What a website actually costs a small business

The short answer

In 2026 a small business in the United States pays $195 to $349 a month for a website on a subscription, or $3,000 to $10,000 up front for a custom build from an agency. The monthly number is what most people end up paying, and the part nobody explains is what happens after the first year. Below is what five companies publish, read off their own pricing pages, and what actually moves the number.

What they publish

Read off each company’s own pricing page on 24 September 2026. Where a company publishes nothing, it says so — that is information too.

CompanyPublished monthlyWhat it covers
Topline Pro $199 · $249 · $299 Month to month, or 20% less on a yearly plan. Website with unlimited updates, invoicing, scheduling and customer management; the plans differ on blog and social posting.
180 Sites $195 · $250 · $300 On a 24-month payment plan. Five, ten or twenty pages, unlimited update requests, SMS and CRM automation on the upper plans. 30-day money-back.
Footbridge Media $249 No contract. Website, hosting, content, Google Business Profile, SEO, review management, booking, a consultant and CRM access. 90-day money-back.
Maxpec $195 · $250 · $300 On a 24-month payment plan, no down payment, no interest: $4,680, $6,000 or $7,200 for a 5-, 10- or 20-page site, hosting and unlimited updates free for the term. Custom-coded for home service companies, live in 14 days, guaranteed. Every lead on your phone and a real person to ask, in every plan; texts to your customers once carriers approve your business. After 24 payments the site is yours: $150 a month keeps everything running, or take the files.
Rebolt $299 · $349 No contract; two months free on a yearly plan. Website, Google Business Profile, social management and review requests; the higher plan adds their CRM.
GoSite $299 · $349 Month to month, 25% off yearly. Website, listings and maintenance; the higher plan adds messaging, scheduling, estimates and payments.

Year two is the number nobody quotes

Every subscription on this list is priced for year one. Read the term. A 24-month plan is two years at the same number. “No contract” is the same number every month for as long as you keep the site, because the site lives on their platform and cannot leave with you. That is not a trick — it is how a site with a system attached gets paid for — but it means the real comparison is the total over two or three years, and whether you can walk away with what you paid for. We publish the exit: after twenty-four payments the site is yours — take the files, or $150 a month keeps everything running.

What actually moves the number

Whether a system comes with it

A site that texts you when someone asks for a price is a different product from a brochure. Most of the prices above include some version of it. Make sure yours does, and ask what it costs after the first year.

The term

No build fee usually means twelve or twenty-four months — a payment plan for the site. Month to month usually means a setup fee or a higher number, and a site that cannot leave with you. Ask which one you are looking at, and when the first payment is due.

Who owns it when you leave

On most platforms the site cannot leave with you. Ask what you get if you cancel — the files, a redirect, or nothing.

How fast it loads

Google draws the line at 2.5 seconds and publishes the tool. Paste the seller’s own website into PageSpeed Insights before you paste your card number anywhere.

What this page will not do

It will not tell you what to pay, because that depends on what you have and what the site has to do. It will not promise a lead number either — nobody who quotes you one controls it. What it will do is stop you walking into a sales call without knowing the range, and without knowing to ask about year two.
